lots of time to colour!

Hello crafty friends. I’m back with another card to share with you. We’re living in a strange limbo land at the moment. We’ve made it to our (holiday) home in Victoria, Australia, but here we stay. We’ve come to Australia to see our parents and our children, but so far, we’re not allowed to do either! So, we stay. We clean, we mend, we try to organise our lives online and over the phone, and I knit, and I colour. I’m so glad to have hobbies that can be done at home.

This card is made using the absolutely beautiful “You Stamp Set” from Pink and Main. The floral images on this set are so pretty and soft that I wanted to use a very soft approach for them. I first stamped the image onto a piece of Fabriano Artistic watercolour paper using Antique Linen Distress Ink. The paper is quite textured, so I used my MISTI stamping platform and stamped several times in the same position. The petals are painted in three layers of watercolour – first a light pink wash over the whole petal, then a deeper coral over about half each petal then finally a deeper burgundy closer to the centres, and in the nooks and crannies. The leaves were a single shade of green, painted in a light wash first, then overpainted as a deeper shade with less water. I mixed these paints myself from what I have on my palette, so I don’t have exact shades to share with you, sorry.

I then spattered the panel with these same colours, before cutting it to just smaller than an A2 card. The sentiment comes from the same stamp set. I cut two of the word ‘you’ using the die from the You Die set. I stamped the top one using the co ordinating stamp and black ink, and painted the lower one in the same coral colour as I used on the petals. I glued these together, offsetting them slightly so that the pink would show. The second part of the sentiment was heat embossed in white embossing ink on black card, and popped up with foam tape. I love a pop of black on a pastel card design.

That’s all for today. I hope that you are safe and well, and able to get up to just a bit more mischief than we can! Until next time,

Blessings,

Donna

  1. Just be thankful you are home in Australia, close to loved ones. Almost able to see them.
It won’t be long till you do see and embrace them. A lot of people can no longer do this.
Hope you are all reunited soon. Xx
