inkblending for a blended palette

Hello Crafty friends. I have a set of cards for you today that are all about the those rich earthy tones. I used a gorgeous stencil called Scandi Circle from Paper Rose as the hero for all four cards. There will be a video to follow, but I’m in the throes of moving back to Australia, permanently this time, and there’s just no time for editing footage, and no quiet for voiceovers! (Also, my microphone is in one of the suitcases, and I’m not sure which one!) The video will come just as soon as the dust settles!

I ink blended this design using a range of colours ranging from green through yellow and into the browns and even a grey. I scattered the colours throughout the design, with decreasing respect for what was flower and what was leaf as I went. The colours I used were

  • Paper Rose Cement
  • Brushed Corderoy Distress Ink
  • Simon Say Stamp Goldenlocks
  • Paper Rose Lime
  • Paper Rose Grass
  • Peeled Paint Distress Ink
  • Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. I have linked to all these inks below.

This first card above, and also the slimline card below, where I blended in two places were simply mounted onto cards, and some sentiments added from the Rainbow Poppies Sentiments pack from Paper Rose Studio. I love this pack so much and have used it on literally tens and tens of cards. It’s been a really good value purchase for me.

The card below was blended using Picket Fence Paper Pouncers. Interestingly, they gave a very different look to the blending, as they concentrated the ink in the centre of the spaces, and didn’t reach all the way to the edges. I guess I could have really worked the ink in, but I liked the effect. I used the Happy Birthday Border Die from Paper Rose Studio to cut the outside panels from Copper Shimmer Cardstock, and I used very teeny tiny pieces of foam tape to glues these down.

Finally, I made this balloon card (below). I layered two stencils for this, taping the largest balloon in the Balloon Stencil and Mask Set to my cardstock, then taping the Scandi Circle stencil on top. I blended as before, them removed the top stencil, and used the remaining ink of the brushes to blend a little colour onto the outside of the balloon so that the shape would more defined. I then cut the balloon by hand, added a bow to the bottom and mounted it with foam tape onto a contrasting piece of coloured card.

That’s all for today’s cards. I hope you’re having a super day, and I’ll see you when I’m back in Australia for my next post.

Blessings,

Donna
