Riding off into the sunset – 8 ways!

Hello crafty friends! I have been making scene cards. There are 8 cards in all, but just three main techniques.

I’m using a Scene Die from Paper Rose Studio, but there are many different dies, like floral dies, and geometric dies that use the same ‘stained glass window’ cut that gives you a border.

Here’s a video of the making of the cards:

For the first three cards, I’ve used just the border portion of the die. The easiest way to do this would be to put it over patterned paper, but I’ve created my own backgrounds for the three cards that I made using just the border.

The one you see pictured above is an ink blended background, with a bunch of white spatter to soften the look. In the photo of the group of cards above you can see one card where I swiped small ink pads across the paper to create my background, and there is another card below where I smooshed watercolour onto some watercolour paper for and even looser look. I switched out the border to white for that card.

Next I used all parts of the die to make inlay jigsaw puzzles. I cut multiple sets of green and blue papers, and then mixed and matched these to make several cards. You can see one below, and several in the photo above.

This next card uses the same technique, but I changed the borders to Shimmer Silver to represent lead lighting and I also used shimmer papers in the Blooming Blossoms and Stormy Seas packs from Paper Rose to give all over shimmer to the card.

Finally, I used just the inlay pieces of the die, although I did use the border frame to help me align them. These pieces were ink blended using Picket Fence Studios Pouncers.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed these cards and are inspired to take a look at any dies you have in your stash that could be used for similar techniques.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this card, and that you’re having fun crafting, wherever you may be. For more crafty inspiration, feel free to follow me on YouTube or Instagram, or my blog.

Until next time, keep having fun,

Blessings,

Donna

  1. A beautiful set of cards. I must admit to eyeing this die for quite a while. I wasn’t 100% sure about getting it but now I will have to. Loved how you used it in different ways even if it was just changing up the colours. Just goes to show how versatile it can be.
