Retro flowers with a Barbie touch!

Hello crafty friends. How are you doing? I’ve been really enjoying not packing up to move countries (it still feels like a novelty, and have been making videos instead) We’ve also been getting stuck into the weeding while the soil is giving up its treasures easily. We tried in summer, and soon gave up, but we’re making great progress now.

I have another embossing folder card for you today. I use them a lot, because they’re a quick way to cover the whole card surface (unless you do today’s technique) and also they’re cheaper than stamps and dies. And they’re fun!

Here’s the video of the making process.

This card features the Many Flowers Embossing Folder from Pink and Main’s new release. I’m in love with the fun flowers, and I want to make some more cards with this very soon. But for my first use, I wanted to colour those flowers in all the sunny colours. I ran a piece of white card through my die cutting machine in the folder, and then grabbed a bunch of Copic markers in pinks, yellows and oranges. I also used one green for the leaves – one that wouldn’t stand out too much. I used the darker colours in the middle of the larger flowers, and blended out to the lighter colours. For the smaller flowers, I just used one colour, and didn’t bother with the blending. I had to use a super light touch, as the alcohol markers sink into the paper, especially where the surface of it has been disturbed by the embossing folder.

Once the panel was coloured, I added a sentiment from the Circle Sentiments Stickies. I peeled off the backing, pressed this onto a piece of white paper, then peeled off the front acetate piece and added Pink Tutu Embossing Powder, the best Barbie colour I could find! (and it sparkles!) I then cut around my sentiment circle with the perfect sized Layered Circle Die. I matted this onto some pink card cut with the next size up of the circle dies. I used the same pink to frame the whole card.

I added a few The World to Me Enamel Dots too, because I have no self control with these dots! You can see them in the flower centres in the photo above, and if I wasn’t simultaneously trying to share them and hoard them, there would have been more!

This was a really fun card to make with lots of repetitive colouring, which I enjoy, as there’s not the constant need to make colour decisions. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Until next time, may your days be colourful!

Blessings,
Donna
