I’m really enjoying the “Muse” class over at Altenew at the moment. I’m interested in how other designers translate inspiration into a finished project, and Carissa Wiley is doing a great job of taking everybody through the process she uses. The first day’s challenge was to take a fashion inspiration and turn it into a card. The image I chose was this red flower bohemian dress on Instagram.
I took the design elements of the strip at the bottom of the dress, the colours and pattern, and the slope of the models shoulders to create this card.
What an interesting process to do in such a structured manner. This is a fairly literal interpretation of the design and I love the way it echoes the inspiration photo.
love your card Donna – and how perfect to round the top corners to reflect the slope of the model’s shoulders – beautiful coloring on the flowers!!

Well done. I love the colors, placement of the flowers and sentiment within the gold and red.
