I hope I don’t have too many of these to send. One of my friends, a beautiful sunny girl, has lost her mum to coronavirus. Up until this point, I’d thought of it as something a little further from home, but this has rocked us.

I wanted to make a card that spoke of beauty as well as our love, so I chose the Sketched Flowers stamp from Simon Says Stamp, and coloured it in my most beautiful colours.
I stamped the image and heat embossed it in Hero Arts White embossing powder. This is a good one for a clean crisp image. I then water coloured it using a mix of Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers and Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I love the vibrant colours in both these brands, and I think they worked well to give the bright feel I wanted.

The paints themselves took over for a little bit there, with a spot of dark staining blue appearing in the middle of my yellow flower. I think I may have had a speck of Brusho powder somewhere on a brush. I couldn’t remove it, so I spread it around a little so that almost all the petals have a little of the blue (now green as it mixed with the yellow) on them. Hopefully it looks deliberate enough not to draw the eye.

So I’ll send this card, make another for just in case, and pray I don’t need to use it. Staying home is looking more than ever like the thing to do here in Tokyo.
Until next time, be safe, be healthy.
Blessings,
My deepest condolences and a heartfelt wish for better times soon – Abe
