Hello friends. As I write this, we’re ending the week of Obon festival, a time when we would have been out eating street food and watching the fireworks and parades, and dancing on the streets. As it is, I’m at home typing quietly at my desk! I’m glad we made the most of it last year!

I have a card for you today that is once again orange. I don’t know what’s come over me lately – I never make orange cards!

I have used the Garden Gate stencil from Pink and Main, and used ColorBurst powders to create the riot of colour. I first laid the stencil over some watercolour paper before adding the tiniest bit of powder and spritzing the whole panel with water. Once I was happy with the colour, I removed (and washed) the stencil and allowed the panel to air dry.

I then cut the panel out with a Stitched Rectangle 2 die. I also cut a black panel using the Stitched Rectangles 1 set. These two sets work well together to give nice thin borders.

The sentiment is from the Pink and Main Wreath Base dies, and it is stacked three layers high. The smaller sentiment is from the Daisy Bugs stamp set. This set has the sweetest little bugs and flowers, but also this lovely sentiment, which fits the Sentiment Strip Dies perfectly.

Some sequins from my stash completed the card, and despite the fact that I’m still shaking my head at the fact that I chose such a fiery colour scheme, I’m really please with the layout.
