So Proud of You

Hello crafty friends. It’s Donna here in Tokyo, and I’m excited to share a VERY girly card with you today.

The feature stamp on this card is the It’s Your Day stamp from Paper Rose Studios. It features a gorgeous sketchy hanging dress, which could be either a ballet costume, or a party dress, or even a wedding dress for a bridal card.

I used my MISTI to stamp this card, because a) I was using watercolour paper and b) I wanted to stamp in two different colours, with the coat hanger in Versafine Onyx Black, and the dress in clear Versamark ink that I could heat emboss in white. In order to have the images lined up perfectly, I stamped the black hanger leaving a small gap to the dress which I filled in later with a black marker.

To colour the dress, I used Ken Oliver Color Burst powder in Ultramarine Blue. I wet the dress bodice and a little of the skirt with clean water, then sprinkled a little powder on the dress portion of the panel (and by little, I mean almost invisible – this stuff is strongly pigmented!!!) The powders only react where there is water, so once they were on and spreading, I used a paintbrush to guide the paint down to make the soft hem of the dress. Of course, you could use regular watercolour paints to get a very similar effect.

Once this was dry, I mixed a little of the same blue coloured powder with water and spattered the page. I then used Versafine Onyx Black to stamp the sentiment from the same stamp set.

To construct the card, I cut the watercolour panel using this stitched rectangle die. You could also use this stitched rectangle die if you are using metric paper such as is used in Australia as your card base. The card will just end up a little longer and thinner. The background paper is from the Sketchy Paper Collection, and the sequins are Turquoise Clear Iridescent Sequins, also from Paper Rose. These sequins look very boldly coloured in the packet, but are actually beautifully subtle.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this very girly version of donnaisplayingpaper. Until next time, stay safe my friends.

Blessings,

Donna
