Hello crafty friends! I have a fun card for you today to share in the blog hop collaboration between Paper Rose Studios and WOW!
Thank you so much for joining the celebration today. Please make sure you leave a comment on each blog on the hop by Wednesday November 18th for your chance to win one of the $25 Gift Cards from both WOW! Embossing Powder and Paper Rose Studio shops. This is open internationally, and there are more details at the bottom of this post.

My card for the hop is a slimline underwater scene. Slimline cards come in so many different sizes, but this one here is 8 1/2 inches by 4 inches (21 1/2cm x 10 cm)
To make the background, I used the Patterned Waves stencil from Paper Rose. I taped this to my background paper, which was cut to the same size as my finished card (I cut it down by a little later). I then carefully pressed my Versamark embossing ink pad over the whole stencil, sprinkled on “Under the Sea” embossing powder and heat set it.

I then washed and dried the stencil, and then flipped it vertically and lined it up with the lower edge of the pattern before repeating the process. Because the panel is bigger than the embossing folder, I have a very slight line in my background which is hidden by the sentiment and one of the fish. The under the sea embossing powder flashes different colours in different lights, and I’ve tried to take photos from different angles, so that you can see the effect, which I love. If you want to see how I did the flipping, I’ve got a quick video of the card.
The fish and other sea creatures come from two of my favourite Paper Rose stamp sets – Fish and Bubbles and Mermaid Magic. I stamped these images in Memento Tuxedo black ink, which is alcohol ink friendly, and coloured them with my Copic markers. I used a colour wheel to look at which colours were opposites to the green of the sea colour, and I used a range of these colours so that the fish would really stand out.

I’m lucky enough to have the coordinating die set for the Mermaid Magic, but I cut the other fish out by hand. Once they were cut, I padded them onto my Versamark ink pad, and then sprinkled on some Clear Hologram Sparkle embossing powder from WOW!. You can see this process on the video. This powder is clear(ish) until the light hits it, when it lights up with blues and purples. Again, I’ve tried to take photos that will do justice to the sparkle – it’s tricky!
I want to tell you about the seaweed too, because I think I’m a bit tricky! This is from a stamp set called Cactus Quotes, and it is indeed a cactus. I cut it away from the garden pot that is in the original stamp.

The sentiment is in two parts. The first part is heat embossed in white onto black paper and comes from the Mermaid Magic stamp set. The ‘hello’ is from a stand alone Paper Rose die with the long name of Hello Chunky Double Layered Die Metal Die. I cut both the background layers in white, because the card had plenty going on without adding more colour!
To construct the card, I cut the sea panel down and matted it with some green paper from my stash. I then glued this down to my card base. I stuck everything down with foam tape, except the ‘seaweed’ which went down flat.

I hope you enjoyed this card, and are enjoying the blog hop.
The next person in the hop lineup is Verity Biddlecombe. I know you’ll love her style. Winners will be chosen randomly from those who comment on all the blogs and announced on Thursday November 19th on both the WOW! Embossing Powder and Paper Rose Studio Blog.
The Winners will be chosen at random from the comments left on ALL THE BLOG POSTS.
To join this GIVEAWAY you must leave a comment on each blog post to have a chance at getting your hands on the prizes. This hop is open internationally.
Until next time, stay safe, and may you find lots of inspiration along the hop.
Blessings,
Donna
