Hello Crafty friends. I would consider myself mostly a stamper when it comes to cardmaking, but I have a set of cards for you today that use mostly die cutting techniques.I’ve been inspired by the cherry blossoms that are blooming here in Tokyo, despite yesterday’s snow!
The hero die of today’s cards is called Blossoms die, and it has a pair of Cherry blossoms and a single bloom, each with a matching background die. I’ve cut these from some gold card, as well as from some watercolour panels that I painted up myself. Once I had cut the pieces from different colours, I started playing jigsaws, putting different colours together.
For the first card, however, I used just the outline, gluing it down with the tiniest bit of glue to some Oyster White cardstock. I also cut the word “Sending” from the same watercolour background that I cut the flowers from. I used various Paper Rose sentiment sets for the popped up words on each of the cards, and I’ll link to each of these, as well as the other supplies I used below.
Next, I used the centres from the flowers on the previous card. I cut a piece of double sided adhesive paper to a smidge smaller than the flower, using a template that I made using the dies, and then added the gold outline and watercolored petals to this. The gold rectangular frame on these cards was cut using the lots and lots of rectangles die, which is sadly no longer available. I used foam tape to pop the flowers up.
This next card uses the same construction for the flowers as the card above. The background paper is from the Dip Dye Basics paper pack. I’ve used the same ‘sending’ die, this time cutting it from black card.
Next, I used the background to pop the blossoms onto. This time, the background, which I once again cut with a stitched rectangle die, was spattered with watered down white Gouache.
And finally, a surprise card. I made this using the dies only, layering up the pieces with double sided tape. To make the pink border, I cut the flower and background taped together from some pink card. The stripes on this card come from a set of dies called Slimline Strips, and I used foam tape to give them some dimension. I used the same dies to cut the sentiment too.
