Hello crafty friends. Happy New Year to you all. I’m going to celebrate by moving countries – again. Back to Australia for an extended period this time around. We’ve been enjoying Japanese New Year’s Celebrations, with special foods, and the annual “Ekiden” relay marathon on TV. I have a one layer card for you today that uses a stamp that is specially designed for slimline cards. The stamp is called Slimline Protea Bouquet from Paper Rose Studio.

You can see the video of the making of this card below. Otherwise, read on!!
I stamped the image in Pink and Main Premium Dye ink onto a slimline card base from Paper Rose Studio. I wanted to test that it was permanent with both alcohol markers and watercolours, (which is essentially what the distress inks are), and it did the job well. Once the ink was well and truly dry, I ink blended using four colours over the image. I tapped off the extra ink onto some scrap paper so that the blending would be very subtle, as I wanted to blend outside the lines, as well as inside. The colours I used were: Abandoned Coral, Speckled Egg, Bundled Sage, and Dried Marigold.

I then used my Copic markers to add some details. I worked quickly and didn’t go over the same place heavily, as I wanted to make this a one layer card, so I tried to move on before the Copic marker sunk into the page and through to the other side. I did just a few quick flicks and moved to the next area.

Finally, I mixed some of the same ink colours with some sparkle in the form of Paper Rose Studio Liquid Sparkle, and flicked this over the card, matching the colour to the underlying ink blending. The sentiment is from a stamp set called Modern Poppies, and I cut the happy birthday into two pieces before stamping each of them. By stamping one part at a time, I could get the sentiment parts closer together.
I hope that you are having a wonderful start to 2023, and that you have a chance to spend time with your loved ones. Until next time, stay safe, and I’ll see you again soon.
Blessings,
Donna
