Hello! I have a slightly different post today.

One of the main catalysts for me to get into card making was an online card class many years ago. It was a watercolour class, and I was hooked. I loved the idea of making something as small as a card that you could finish in a finite amount of time, then send on to a friend. I’ve made hundreds (probably thousands) of cards since then, but I still love an online class. It gives me a chance to stop and think about the way I use my supplies, and it stops me from getting into a rut of always doing things the same way.

So it was with today’s class. It was day one of a Stencil class, run by Online Card Classes, (Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner) Today was all about ways to stretch a single stencil in a card. I won’t give out all the class secrets, but feel free to join in the class and find it all out for yourself.

I used one of my all time favourite stamps to start the class off. This Gum Leaf Stencil by Paper Rose Studio has all the Aussie feels, as well as a lovely arching design. I ink blended it from each end of the card with two tones of green, (Fern and Laurel Green)and added a hello sentiment from Lawn Fawn. The small sentiment is a from a set from Simon Says Stamp called Tiny Words that I’ve had waiting for me in Australia while I’ve been in Japan, and it’s been a happy reunion!! The dots are from Pink and Main, from a set called Rainbows Glitter Enamel Dots.

I hope to keep updating this blog as I take the class, but I have a busy couple of weeks ahead, so it may not be daily! I’ll definitely be posting all my cards on Instagram at @donnadoll74
