just chicken in with you all

Hello, hello! It’s been a busy couple of weeks here at home. In non card related business, I’ve been learning to spin. So far, I have the cutest wonky yarn, and a sore thumb! But it’s so interesting to learn a new skill, and teach my hands and feet some new coordination tricks. (I’ll pop a picture at the end of this post) Onto the cards – I have a set of four cards today. Once I started colouring chickens, I couldn’t stop! You might have known this blog post was coming if you spotted my secret video.

All these chickens come from a stamp set called Just Chicken In from Pink and Main, and I stamped them in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and then cut them with the matching Just Chicken In dies. I then coloured them with my Copic markers.

I then set about making the images into cards. First I made a pair of baby cards, with really cute sentiments. I used a pale blue paper from the Year Round Dots and Stripes paper pack, and cut a heart from it using the Double Stitched Heart Dies. Both these cards have a small smattering of All Occasion Glitter Enamel Dots. This was a two-for-one background pair, as the heart that I cut out of one card, I used it for the other.

The next card uses the gorgeous group of nesting chickens. This card actually had a big booboo when my marker bled onto my panel, but I have covered this up with the sentiment. This time, I used I used papers from the Warm Basics paper pack. I cut this, and the a sheet of white card using the Mod Stitched Rectangles die.

Lastly, with have this stylish chick, heading off for some shopping, I suspect! The panel behind her is foiled, using the leftover from the Woven Foilable Panels. Once I had foiled the panel, I took the foil, with the remaining coloured foil, and foiled it onto the red from the Rainbow Toner sheets pack. I layered this panel onto some red card, and added some Musical Enamel Dots as well as a sentiment from the Just Chicken In stamp set.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed these cards, and you have some time to get crafty. Until next time,

Blessings,

Donna

  1. A wonderful set of cards Donna. Love the images.
And welcome to the world of spinning. I have been spinning myself since 2016.
I will give you some advice that I give all new spinners. Once you finish making your first lot of yarn. Keep it – even make something out of it. Then you will have a reference of where you once started in this craft. There is nothing like being able to feel and see your progress.

    • Thank you so much, Tracy for that advice. So far I’ve just laughed at my yarn, but you’re right – it will be a good record of my progress if a I keep the yarn. I’m going to do it! Nice to meet another spinner, (if I may be so bold to call myself that after just a few evenings spinning!)
