on the line…

Hello crafty friends. As you read this, I will be one week away from moving to Japan. Packing is in full swing, and we’re playing that fun game of “Will we get it done in time?” I have a set of three cards to share with you today, which can be used as a formula for any images and patterned papers that you have. I’ve got a set of three cards to share today that use Embossed diecuts (Strawberry Friends is the name of this set) in order to save time, and get some cards made fast!

Here’s the formula: An embossed white background on a darker coloured border, a strip of the patterned paper of your choice ( I used geometric papers that weren’t too busy), a feature image (colour one for yourself, or use something like the Embossed Diecuts that I’ve used here) and a sentiment, either on or above the strip.

The first card above used one of my favourite 3D embossing folders called Leafy Garden. All the strips of paper are from the Strawberry Fields Basics 6×6 papers from Paper Rose Studio. The card below uses a 3D embossing folder called Ben’s Plaid

The final card uses an embossing folder with a Japanese pattern, called Hand Stitching 2. The sentiments all come from a set called Stacked Sentiments 1. It has some larger bold sentiments that say hello, celebrate, thanks, and hugs, but I’ve chosen to use just the smaller sentiments today. The busier I get, the more I long for white space on the cards I make.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these cards, and that you are having a super day. Wish me luck as I pack up my house! Until next time,

Blessings,

Donna

  1. A great set of cards. I love the images they are so cute. Yes, this card design is a great one. I love making cards with either full backgrounds or even just strips to create this kind of design.Hope that everything goes well with the move, and that you get set back up quickly once you arrrive.

    • Thank you so much Tracy! We’re surrounded by boxes (not going to Japan) and suitcases (coming with us) at the moment. I think we’re going to make it! I love your idea of strips, it would be a great way to use up scraps too!
