Friendship Blossoms

Hello, it’s Donna again, and I have a set of cards that are my favourite type of card to give away – friendship cards!

These cards all feature the beautiful cherry blossoms from the Lovely Florals Blossom flower stamp set from Paper Rose Studio, as well as the coordinating dies.

To make this first card, I stamped the blossom images in Memento black ink, which is Copic safe, and coloured the flowers. The colours I used included a yellow to give the flowers some coral tones in the centres, and to combine with the green to give a soft earth tone to the stems. I used the matching dies to cut each of the flowers.

I then masked off a section of a card base, and blended Distress Inks in Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral and Tattered Rose. These gave me a close match to the colours of the cherry blossoms. I popped all the flowers up with foam tape, moving them around to different angles and changing the heights to keep them from looking like a pattern.

I used this same combination of colours for all three cards. For the next card, I combined some of the larger blossom images with and older sentiment to create a large central focal point. I cut a white panel slightly smaller than my card base, and let the images float off the panel.

Finally. I used the same three inks to blend a circle, which I spattered first with water, then with some Perfect Pearls in the colour Perfect Pearl mixed with water. I then stamped the images in black ink, cascading down the card, and adding the sentiment at the bottom. ( don’t you just love the [Remember that] ) I do!

This is a true one layer card, but it has a lovely sense of dimension thanks to all the colours used in the blended circle.

Flowers make me happy, and these cards were certainly a pleasure to make. I hope that you are inspired to get creative, and play with using stamped images over blended backgrounds.

Until next time, may your days be full of flowers! If you’d like to see more of my cards, there are lots more here.

Blessings,

Donna
