Hello crafty friends. I have a card and several card making hints for you today. If I were younger and hipper, I’d call them ‘Hacks” but I just can’t come at the word!!!

Hint 1: I’ve used a mix of Polychromos pencils and Copics for the colouring. This gives the images the best of both worlds. Copics are great for full rich colour that has great coverage, but are (frankly) rubbish at fine detail. Pencils are fabulous for fine details, but give a sketchier look, and that wasn’t what I wanted today. so I laid a single layer of one colour down in Copic and then filled in the shadows and stems with pencil.

I’ve added a drop shadow of sorts to each leaf which gives a lovely 3D touch to the images; they’re not quite so ‘floaty’

The leaf images came from two stamp sets, both from Pink and Main. They are Let’s Flamingle, and Beach Unicorn.

Hint 2: The sentiment uses an unrelated die that is from a Lanterns stamp set. The lanterns are stunning, and will be featuring on this blog very shortly, but one of the coordinating dies made a wonderful sentiment banner, when partial cut from both ends. Sometimes matching dies can have useful standalone shapes.

Hint 3: The sentiment from the Succulents stamp set was perfect. These sentiments have such delicate detail that there’s a knack to stamping them. I recommend using Pigment ink, like the Versafine Onyx Black that I used, and stamping with a very light pressure only.
