Hi crafty friends. The sentiment on this card seems to be a timely reminder at the moment when many people are stressed and we have to live together and protect one another in these crazy times. I’m absolutely blessed to be living in Japan where looking out for those around you is the norm, and community values are held very highly. I hope that you are able to stay safe wherever you are.
To make this card, I first stamped the roses using the Sketchy Rose Stamp set from Paper Rose Studio around the border of a card panel using Memento Ink, so that I could use Copic markers later. I also stamped the sentiment from the same set. Paper Rose is an Australian company, and their products are now available in the USA so I’ve linked to both below.
Next, I used Distress Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry, Speckled Egg, and Faded Jeans to blend in from the edges and create a cloud of colour. I then used a range of Copic markers in similar colors to highlight just a some petals of the roses. The colors I used are: Blues – B26, B21 Aquas – BG11, BG53, BG57 Pinks RV17, R21.
Once I had finished colouring, I spattered some Perfect Pearls mixed with a little water over the whole card, except for the sentiment which I loosely masked with a scrap of paper towel. Lastly, I glued the panel to a card.
I love the soft cloudy look of this card, and I look forward to using this technique of combining inks and markers again in the near future.
