daisy card – mixing ink blending and copics

Hello crafty friends. I hope that you are doing well, and that you are staying safe wherever you are. I’ve got a card to share with you today that mixes a few techniques to make a card that I really like. I was in a quandary about whether to make a spring or an autumn card with this one – I’m Australian and it’s spring there, but I’m currently living in Japan where it’s Autumn. In the end, I compromised, with a fresh spring background and an orange hued flowers!

In case you’d rather look than read, I can tell you straight up that I have made a video of the making of this card. You can watch it below or read on if you’d prefer. The Youtube is coming along, and I’m starting to sound much more like myself, I’m pleased to report!

To create this card, I first stamped the feature image from Paper Rose Studio’s Sketchy Florals – Thanks Stamp in a pale green ink. I used my MISTI stamp positioning tool, and then I left the stamp in the tool so that I could stamp in exactly the same place later. I then ink blended over the image, using the picture of the flower to help me decide where to put each colour. For the blending I used inks from Paper Rose studio. Once the ink blending was complete, I stamped the image again, this time in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, which is Copic friendly.

I then chose a few colors that would both blend in with and yet stand out from the background and coloured the image. I have listed all the colours that I used in the video. Once the colouring was done, I cut the panel out using this Stitched Rectangles die. I stamped the sentiment from the same Sketchy Florals set in two halves using black ink.

All it then required was a bit (a lot) of foam tape on the back of the panel to pop it up from the card base. Although it is quite a simple card, I love the flow of colours and the way the feature image rests so gently on the background.

Until next time, may you have flowers in your life, whether it’s spring or autumn where you are. Blessings to you and stay safe my friends,

Donna
