everything will be ok – modern decoupage

Hello crafty friends. I have a card for you today that continues to combine my loves of flowers and Copic colouring. I’m still working with a limited colour palette, but these sunny colours are the perfect companion to the cold days at the moment.

The background for this card uses the Distress Mesh Stencil from Paper Rose Studios. I’m sure those of you who are here often will recognise this stencil – I use it a lot! I blended over this with Distress inks in Scattered Straw, Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry.

Next, I stamped the Lotus Bouquet stamp image four times in total – once onto the blended background and three times onto white card. (the third stamping was just the centre of the main bloom onto a small piece of card. I coloured these with Copic Markers, using a mix of pinks, yellows and oranges to coordinate with the background. I’ve listed all of the individual colours on my Youtube video that you can watch below.

Next, I cut out the different layers, getting smaller as I moved towards the top layer, cutting right on the black line, and then using a Memento Tuxedo Black marker to hide the white core of the card. I curled some of the petals with my fingers, then glued the pieces down with a mix of foam tape and glue, to make some pieces pop up straight, and some at an angle. I have a photo for you below that shows the layering.

The sentiment comes from a paper pack called Really Rainbow, and I think it says it all at the moment. I’ve tucked it into the leaf to highlight the dimension on the card.

Thank you so much for popping in today and spending this time with me. I hope that you are inspired to create some dimensional cards.

If you’d like to see the card making process in more detail, feel free to watch the Youtube video above, and if you’d like to see more of my cards, why not visit my Instagram page here?

Until next time, stay safe, and may your days be full of flowers.

Blessings,

Donna
