Hello crafty friends. I have been getting inky over the weekend with a new stamp from Paper Rose, this perfectly sized wreath. The weather was finally sunny and a little warmer, so I alternated between sanding a table and crafting, giving my wrists some well earned breaks! In the process of doing up the table, I found another great use for a heat tool – stripping varnish!

Today’s card combines ink blending with Copic colouring. I first laid the Wreath Stamp from Paper Rose Studio over my paper to get a general idea of where to blend my two inks. I used a red (Candied Apple) and a lime green (Altenew Parrot) and blended where the ribbons and leaves would be, spreading out my circle to be larger than the image. I then stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink . The Copic colouring was done very simply using mostly two colour blends. You could also do this colouring step with coloured pencils if you don’t have markers.

I added some white gel pen highlights to the berries and bow, and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in Gold before very carefully fussy cutting around the edge, leaving a small white border.

I cut the panel using a Pierced Rectangles die, and popped the sentiment up with foam tape. I mounted the panel onto gold shimmer cardstock from Paper Rose before adding to a white card base.

It’s amazing how much a layer of ink at the bottom can help with colouring to smooth it out and help it flow. Perhaps you’d like to try the idea.
