Welcome friends, and friends-to-be! Today’s blog post is a collaboration with Michelle Lupton from Handmade by Michelle. It’s part of her “Case me a Christmas Card” series, and I’m so excited to be a part of it.

The idea for this challenge is that I take a card of Michelle’s and use it as inspiration to make a Christmas card, and she will do the same for one of my cards. (I can’t wait to see what she choses, and what she does with it!) You can visit Michelle’s blog to see more of this series.

I have been inspired by this fabulous Mandala card of Michelle’s to create this flurry of snowflakes in a Christmas card (or two)

I love this whole card, but the elements I’ve chosen to replicate are the way the design comes in from the left of the card, and the strong sentiment that really stands out from the background.
I’ve made a video of the process, so feel free to look at the cards and how I made them below.
I first made a background of a few different blues, using both Distress Ink and watercolour paints and mixing them on a watercolour panel with lots of water. Once this was dry, I stamped some snowflakes from Paper Rose’s Christmas Snowflakes stamp set with Versafine clear ink, and heat embossed them in Brutus Monroe Alabaster Embossing powder (or in WOW! gold for the second card)

The sentiment is a die from Paper Rose Studio called (fairly obviously) Merry & Bright, and I cut this in gold glitter cardstock for one of the cards. For the other card, I chose black, with a heavy application of Liquid Sparkle on top to give it that iridescent shimmer. For both cards, I mounted the sentiment three layers high, using white card for the lower layers.

I used some gold shimmer cardstock to layer my panel up onto a white card base, and my card was done.
It always lovely to have you visit. Why not pop over to Michelle’s blog or Youtube channel now, and see what she’s done!

Until next time, stay safe, and stay kind.
Blessings
