Hello crafty friends. It’s been too long! Even Instagram thinks it’s been too long, and is punishing me for my absence! After a very hectic few weeks with much packing, moving, unpacking, and taking of PCR tests, we are finally about to leave quarantine here in Japan, and hit the real world! Before I’m lost to the world of getting organised for our life here, I have a card to share with you.

The main hexagon feature of this card was made using the Hexie Windows stencil from Paper Rose Studio. I first used a pale blue to blend over the largest of the hexagons, then using progressively darker blues, I lined the smaller hexagons up to different corners, and blended those. The colours I used are Broken China, Evergreen Bough, Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire and Stormy Sky but there are so many colours that would look great.

I then cut the panel out, and stamped the Bold Leaves 2 stamp onto it with Versafine Onyx black ink, before mounting it with foam tape onto a silver hexagon that I cut to be just larger. The paper that I used for this was this Silver Shimmer Cardstock. I used the same shimmer cardstock for the background for my sentiment. On top of this I cut this Chunky Happy Birthday Sentiment from Paper Rose twice in white and then once in a piece of cardstock which I had coloured by dragging the Salty Ocean ink pad over some white card. I layered these up so that the dimension would match the hexagon.

Finally, the card base itself was embossed using the Hand Stitching 2 embossing folder. This is such a great folder for giving just a little subtle interest to the background, and it works really well for both soft designs like florals, and for geometrics, like this card.
