Hello friends. It’s Donna here, with a bunch of New Years’ cards for you. I have had so much fun playing with shaving cream and ink refills. Now all the cards smell like my husband’s freshly shaved face!

It’s release day at Pink and Main, and as part of the design team, I got to play with the new goodies. Today’s release is especially good news for those who like to have coordinating supplies. There are seven new colours of ink, along with refills for each of them, which match with Pink and Main’s cardstock colours. You can see the whole release here, including the stamps and other releases. Here are some of the cards I made.

To make the background, I have used shaving cream as a base, dropping little drops of reinkers in Dress Shop, Construction and Barbershop onto the shaving cream before swirling them a little with a toothpick. I then dipped regular card stock into the shaving cream and scraped off the excess. It really was a fun process and the cards smell wonderful, thanks to the shaving cream. 

The first panels used the swirled backgrounds, and then I started using the leftover shaving cream and ink to scrape through some Pink and Main Stencils. I absolutely loved the results that this gave, with lovely swirls of colour in the designs of the stencils. The stencils I chose were: Stained Glass, Bursting and Curly Waves, and the way that the colours danced through the holes in the stencils is delightful.

The sentiments come from a set called Happy New Year which is also part of the new release. I used the Coordinating Dress Shop Card to match the ink refill, and I also stamped one of the sentiments in Dress Shop ink, so everything matched perfectly!

I hope you enjoyed these cards and give playing with shaving cream ago. It’s fun! I’m definitely going to keep using these backgrounds and see what else I can make.
