Hello crafty friends. I hope you’re all doing well. I’ve been enjoying the late spring weather here in Tokyo. We’ve had family visiting and so we’ve been out and about looking at parts of Japan that we don’t get to in our regular day to day life. I have a set of five cards today that use a coverplate die, including a window card.

There is a video of these cards too. I share a few tips along the way, as I make the cards.
The die is called Abstract Coverplate, and it comes from Paper Rose Studio, The cards I made range from a 5 minute wonder below, where I simply cut the cover die and glued it down onto some patterned paper (I used a paper called Floral Bliss), before adding a sentiment. The sentiment took a while to build up the three layers, but the rest of the card was super quick.

Next, I coloured a piece of cardstock using three Distress Inks – Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Salty Ocean. I blended these onto the white card, then splashed on some water, waited a few seconds then sopped it up again with paper towel to make the spots and splashes on the paper. I then cut it with the Abstract Coverplate , and kept both parts together using some Press and Seal.

I added foam tape to the backs of first the middle pieces, and then the frame and added them to two different card bases before adding sentiments.

Next came the window card. I doubled the front of the card to strengthen it by cutting both the front of a top folding card base and an extra sheet of card and gluing then together.

I then cut some flowers using the Etched Flowers dies, and added ink to the edges of them using Picket Fence Studio Paper Pouncers. I glued three onto the front of the caravan, then three onto the inside to keep the inside looking as good as the front. I also added an insert into the card, so that any message wouldn’t show through the holes on the front of the card.

Finally, I made a quick card with some of the leftover middles, running my inks over a piece of card diagonally to make a fun bold background. You can see that card in the bottom right of the photo below, or have a look at the video to see the details.

I hope that you’re having a super day, and that you’ve enjoyed these cards. I’ll be back soon with more!
Until next time, stay crafty.
Blessings,
Donna
