It’s a Girl!

Hello Crafty friends. I hope you are doing well and staying healthy. The rainy season is definitely here in Japan, and it’s lovely to have school holidays and the lazy days that come with it.

I have a new pair of cards for you today. Well, it’s one card really, in two colours. I have used a sweet elephant from the Baby Doodles Stamp from Paper Rose. The images in this stamp are all perfect for colouring with their simple, open design.

I used watercolour paper for this project, and stamped the elephants in Versamark ink before heat embossing them in Hero Arts white embossing powder. I found the best way to line them up exactly was to use my MISTI and stamp one of the central elephants before sliding the paper left and right to add in the other elephants at exactly the same height from the bottom of the paper. I embossed each elephant individually before moving onto the next, because I always seem to touch the powder if I try to do too much at once.

Once I had all the elephants stamped and embossed, I stamped four more elephants onto post it tape so that I could make masks. I covered each of the elephants, and then laid the Half Tone stencil over the whole card, and blended ink, laying a heavier amount of ink at the bottom of the card, and getting lighter towards the top. For the darker card I used Berry ink, and the lighter card used Bubblegum, both from Paper Rose Studios.

Then it was time to colour the elephants. I laid a small amount of colour along one edge of each shape and then used a water brush to water the colour down as I spread it over the whole section. I used a mix of Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, and Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers.

I then cut each panel out using this Stitched Rectangle die, and popped them up onto pink card bases. To make the sentiments. I found scraps of each of the pinks that I used for the bases, and stamped the sentiment from Baby Sentiments 2 and heat embossed in white to match the embossing on the elephants. To help the sentiments stand out, I added a background of black, with just the tiniest sliver of the black. showing. I popped these up with foam tape and the cards were finished!

Now, as long as everybody has girl babies, I’ll be fine!!! I hope that you’ve enjoyed this card, and I look forward to sharing again with you soon.

Until next time, stay safe.

Blessings,

Donna
