Hello crafty friends. It’s Donna here in Tokyo. We’re starting to live in a sea of boxes as we pack for our return to Australia at the end of the month. I have a soft card for you today that uses the beautiful Feather Trio die from Paper Rose Studio.

The first thing I did in the construction of this card was to make a watercolour panel using Fabriano Artistic Watercolour paper, adding water first, and then dropping in some Distress Oxides that I had smooched onto a piece of scrap plastic. The colours I used were Frayed Burlap, Faded Jeans, Antique Linen, Black Soot and Speckled Egg.

Once the Distress Oxide panel was dry, I used the Feather Trio die from Paper Rose Studio to cut the feathers. I use a metal shim for cutting intricate dies like this one, adding it as an extra layer under by bottom cutting plate. I also cut each feather twice more from scrap cardstock and layered them up for some dimension. The background panel was the same Watercolour paper, and I cut a piece using the Stitched Rectangles USA and very gently ‘smooshed’ some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide over the middle

The sentiment comes from the Tulips stamp set. I’ve used the tulips on this stamp set several times. (Here and here, for example!), but today, I’ve just chosen a sentiment. I stamped this in Veramark clear sticky ink, and heat embossed it with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. The banner comes from the Banners and Stars die set.
