Hello crafty friends. It’s been a lovely active week for me here in Japan. I’ve been trying to exercise every day, and the weather is absolutely perfect for getting out and about. I have a set of two butterfly cards to share with you today. And yes, we have butterflies here even in Tokyo itself. (especially down by the river)

These cards both feature a die called Flurry of Butterflies, once with mostly the negative space, and once using the butterflies themselves. I’ve made a video of the making of both cards. My YouTube channel has been gaining so many followers this month- it’s lovely to see that community growing and enjoying each other.
For the first card, I cut the Flurry of Butterflies from a white card panel. I then taped off the edges of an a2 card, and Ink blended a rainbow using Citrine ink from Simon Says Stamp, Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide, and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide behind where the butterflies would be. I cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die, and stamped the word Congratulations from the Tulips Stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black Ink, before attaching the panel to the ink blended card. Finally, I added back some of the white butterflies, glueing only the centres, so the wings could fly free.

The next card is a slimline shaker card. I used the Flurry of Butterflies to cut a LOT of butterflies from a piece of card that was actually a failed alcohol ink background that I didn’t want to waste. I then used the Slimline 7 Circle Strip die cut a row of circles from a panel, and a slimline stitched rectangle die for the outside. I made some shaker windows on the inside (check out the video to see the process), and sorted the butterflies by colour. The hello comes from a little stamp set called Hello Thanks, and I heat embossed that in Wow gold embossing powder after stamping it in Versamark ink.

Once the card was all put together, I added a few extra butterflies on top. The white space on this card gives me a lot of pleasure!
Until next time, may you see butterflies wherever you go.
Blessings
Donna
