Hi crafty friends. I have a whole lot of cards for you today, all with a very summery feel. Summer is upon us in Japan, but the vibe is not quite the same as these cards, with the rainy season coming before any real heat arrives. In fact, we’ve already had our first typhoon of the season. My cards, however are all lemonade and days by the water – such fun bright cards for summer. Here’s a look at some of them.

I also made a video of the making process, which has a couple of bonus cards that I made after I took the photo above – once you start, it’s hard to stop!! I’ll put the link in here, in case the video doesn’t play properly. It’s giving me some strange messages! https://youtu.be/GfHxirlvYxo
Let’s start with some fun fruit. This set of dies to make watermelon was included in the kit, but…..

Without the black seeds, they make fabulous citrus!

Next I have a set of three cards made from one background. The kit includes a set of three stencils that combine to make some shimmery water. I made a whole panel of this, and then kept using it until I’d stretched it to three cards. Before we look at them, look up at the citrus card above, which also features just one of the stencils to make a bright background, and notice the stone paving in the photo below, also made with one of the stencils.

Once I had stenciled the three layers, I cut the pool to make a fun shaker card, then used the top offcut to make the water portion of the card below, a bird’s eye view of the seaside.

Finally, I had a small strip of the water cardstock left. I backed it with some teal card, and layered it onto a stamped and ink blended background. I used some ‘leftover’ elements from other cards to add some colour.

Next, I have a picture of some friends and I at the beach. (I’m the sunburnt one!) Once again I used the stencil to give some movement to the background.

Finally, this card is made with the most enormous die set, that makes this girl and her accessories. The sentiment on her hat comes from a coordinating stamp set. Both this girl and the stamp set are in the My Monthly Superhero kit.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these cards, and that whether you’re in summer or winter, that you are enjoying your days.
Until next time,
Blessings,
Donna.
